Preparation
for Surgery:
Do
not eat or drink anything after midnight. This is
for your safety. Undigested food can cause complications. Your
surgery can be postponed if you forget to follow this instruction.
Remove
all make-up and jewelry. We also suggest that you
wear casual two-piece clothing as you will be asked to
change into a gown.
Arrange
for a safe ride home. A member of our staff will
be happy to contact your designated person when you are
ready to leave. Limit
the number of people who accompany you to the center. For
adult patients we ask that you have only one person with
you, because our center has a relatively small waiting
room. However, we do welcome both parents with our
pediatric patients. It would be better if siblings
did not accompany a pediatric patient.
If
you experience health changes before your surgery date,
notify your surgeon. Please report even minor changes
such as the common cold.
If
you suspect you are pregnant please notify your surgeon. Anesthesia
and other medications can be harmful to a developing fetus.
